Robbie is an ex-chef that developed a passion-come-obsession with cultivating fungi.
Originally starting in the spare bedroom of his family home, Robbie honed unique and difficult methods of growing mycelium; learning to clone native edible fungi species from the wild and breeding entirely new ones from spore. They work with Lions Mane, Coral Tooth, a colourful selection of Oyster mushrooms, King Oyster, Velvet Shank, Pioppinos… they’re always working to expand their offerings.
His fungi are all grown from scratch - starting on Petri dishes, the whole process is performed in sterile conditions as mycelium is carefully grown across sustainably sourced mediums before being sent into the fruiting room. They are some of the most delicious and aesthetically stunning mushrooms we’ve ever seen.
Based in an eclectic and charming old community business estate in Hastings, Basil's Fungi Farm feels a part of the woodwork and we’re thrilled to be working with them.
